Siberian Husky Secrets - For Siberian Husky Owners Or For Those Who Want One!

hi everyone, my husband got "his husky" puppy about a month ago, but since he travels with his job and stays in motel rooms, sammie stays with me (for now). how do you think a husky would do once she gets older being by herself in such a small room. he is really looking forward to taking her with him, but i worry about that, especially after reading up on the breed. anyone with experience with this, please let me know. thanks so much...sammie's momma

A bored husky can become a very destructive husky...if he plans of traveling with her I would strongly suggest crate training. It is safer for not only the room, but for her safety as well.. I have traveled many times with my Sibes, and really a crate is the only way I leave them alone...most hotels won't allow loose dogs unattended in the room any way, just think if the maid opens the door and "Poof" there goes the dog!

thank you for responding.............holy cow, what have we got ourselves into???????? with sammie's temperment, i could totally see her ripping the furniture up, she actually has already started to chew on the decorative molding in our home, so on goes the leash and out the door we go. have a great day!!!!!!!

A good rule of thumb is a Tired Sibe is a Happy Sibe...lots and LOTS of exercise and you will have a content pup. Obedience training is a must, and should start as soon as you have all your Vaccinations and from a reputable source. I would steer clear from programs like Petsmart and Petco offer which are very basic for "most" breeds.
