Siberian Husky Secrets - For Siberian Husky Owners Or For Those Who Want One!

This isa photo of Cherokee, perhaps it is because I spent a number of weeks with the Cherokee of Georgia in USA, is why he was named that, he is loved by all the family. We also have a 12 year old German Shepherd named Ben this is the problem, Cherokee is driving Ben nuts by continually attacking him ( in a puppy way ) this is an onslaught on and on, we try to stop the puppy but nothing prvevails, we thought Ben would put Cherokee in his place but he just allows him to chew him and will run and hide, we are worried that someone is going to end up getting hurt...........any isead please

Sounds like Ben is being very tolerant of young Cherokee! In that respect you are very lucky, there are dogs that would have gladly put young Cherokee in his place and someone would be injured. Puppies, Siberians especially, are very mouthy, they have to put everything in their mouth and Sibes tend to be exuberant in play. If you feel it's out of hand, a simple squirt gun/spray bottle is effective to break their concentration long enough to get the "no" message across. You can also take the pup and re-focus that energy elsewhere in a walk. Tire him out and he'll be less inclined to pester Ben. Eventually you will need Obedience training, the sooner the better (12 weeks is plenty old enough to start) to have better control over the little one.

Hi Lani, what a good idea the small gun spray, will get one tomorrow, we do walk Cherokee three times a day, he has taken to my wife as dogs seem to become closer to one member of the family so she walks him twice and when I return from work I walk him too, and yes Ben is such a patient loving dog, we are so lucky but really want to stop this ASAP, as Ben is a big GS he could do some damage, thanks so much for your advice, Regards Dennis
